Ema Ryan Yamazaki is a biracial Japanese-British who grew up in Japan. After graduating from an international school, she moved to New York City to pursue studies in filmmaking and entertainment business at New York University. There, she has found her passion in documentary filmmaking. In the past year Ema has trained at the BBC in London, worked for Ken Burns, and has screened a film at the Cannes Film Festival. Not quite fitting in anywhere but at the same time able to blend in anywhere, Ema often finds herself lingering between the perspective of the insider and the outsider in many societies. Through the world of film and storytelling, she explores human nature and cultural perspective.
