Patricia E. Gillespie – UG Advanced Production

Patricia E. Gillespie is a compulsive storyteller. She was raised by a painter and a telephone repairman, and hopes to buy them both Cadillacs one day. She currently lives in upstate New York, where the rent is cheap and the library is housed in a church. There, she tries to write enough to make her manager happy, and waits tables. Her films have shown everywhere from Rubin Museum of Art to her grandma's living room. She'd like to thank NYU--especially Chris Kelly, Lamar Sanders, and Ezra Sacks--for teaching her that she has every right to be who and what she wants to be.

I look forward to the experience of viewing this film, as a chapter in the life of a young women who has known the direction she wanted her life to go in when I first met her at age 14 and as a harbinger of her films to come.
